Former Royals today; One I miss, one I don’t and seeing one in another uniform makes me do the happy dance. I’ll simplify this, I will always like David Dejesus and I will call it right now, he will be a Royal again someday. I would love to see him as a veteran fourth outfielder in about five years as the Royals are making a playoff run. A man can dream can’t he?
I don’t miss Rick Ankiel. He was pretty much a dick when he was in KC. He was an ok player but he had less than 100 at bats as a Royal and spent more time on the DL than in the outfield. Now to the good one: Yuniesky Betancourt is a Milwaukee Brewer. I couldn’t stand seeing him come up in a key situation with a man on third and less than two outs and swing at a bunch of junk above his eyeballs. Alcides Escobar can hit .222 all year if he plays defense like he has; I don’t miss Yuni’s bat at all.

Holy crap this one is hard, Halladay is the definition of an ace and Lincecum can be absolutely unhittable. Lincecum is younger but Halladay has more experience. Both now have playoff success, Lincecum has won it all Halladay threw a no-hitter. Both are right handed and strike fear into opponents. I’m going to pick purely on who I’d like to watch pitch more. Winner: TIM LINCECUM – Giants 2 Phillies 3
Well it is official, believe the hype, the Phillies have the best rotation in the majors.
Interesting facts:
The Giants drafted 4 of the 5 starters in their rotation, the Phillies drafted 1 of 5.
The Oakland Athletics drafted more players in these two rotations than the Phillies did (Zito, Blanton by A’s, Hamels by Phillies)
Phillies rotation salary 67 million! Giants rotation salary 45 million, big difference there.

Once I would have said if Cliff Lee didn’t face the Royals six times a year he would suffer, that day has passed; Winner: CLIFF LEE – Giants 1 Phillies 3

This is closer than most people might think but I got to go with experience here; Winner: ROY OSWALT – Giants 1 Phillies 2

Zito was great, Hamels might have peaked as well, I like Barry Zito a lot but Hamels wins in a landslide; Winner: COLE HAMELS – Giants 1 Phillies 1
Here is the first of five in a quick comparison of the Philadelphia Phillies against the San Francisco Giants rotations. I start at the bottom of the rotations with the number 5 starters.

Blanton was a good pitcher, Bumgarner is a good pitcher; Winner: BUMGARNER – Giants 1 Phillies 0

I am continuously amazed by how consistently underrated Brian Roberts seems to be from year to year.

I hadn’t posted and Just Fair cards in a couple days so I need to play catch up a little bit. I made 20 cards before I got a little bored with it. I’m thinking I probably won’t be able to finish this set. I want to include many of the lesser know players (see James McDonald) but that will make the set really hard to keep going on. I’m thinking of an All-Stars subset to do around the All-Star break but I really don’t know of any other inserts. I think I will have to mix inserts in to make it interesting.
Anyway Adam Dunn is included here. Another White Sox card with a brief message about the guy: he scares the living hell out of me being a Royals fan. I know at some point he is going to stick a dagger in the Royals, I’m just waiting for it.
James McDonald plays for the Pirates and he is a pitcher, now you know as much as I do about him.
