I’m done! This is the last of my 1983 Royals Topps set. I have posted a 1983 Topps card for every person to appear on the Royals 25 man roster this year. It is currently a total of 34 cards. With the trade deadline approaching I’m sure this set will need expanded on, I can’t wait to add Lorenzo Cain and Johnny Giavotella. Until that happens, the set is complete.

2011 Mustangs: Kris Koerper Leave a comment
The Mustangs finished their long homestand with another big win. This time they defeated the Joplin Outlaws 18-1. Several Mustangs had big wins in the route. Kyle Jackson picked up the win and Jordan Guida drove in 4 runs. I’m posting Kris Koerper’s card today because of the way he heated up on this homestand. He finished the string of games with a 3-5 performance raising his MINK league average to an impressive .296.
No surprise that it was another good game from Cameron, MO’s own Brent Seifert, he was 3-4 with 2 RBI. Shortstop Spiker Helms went 4-4 and has jumped his average all the way up to .336. This is a huge improvement from his average last year with the Mustangs which I believe was well under .250. Mark Robinette also put together a multi-hit and multi-RBI game with 2 of each.
With the Clarinda A’s losing their last two games, the Mustangs have stretched their lead in the division to 6.5 games. With just 8 games left on the Mustangs schedule, they could wrap up the division early next week. The Mustangs have had two successful seasons in St. Joseph but have yet to win a division title.

Custom Card of the Day: Brittany Schutte and Kelsey Bruder 2011 Topps 4 comments

Here is a new one for your custom card of the day. These two ladies play for the University of Florida. I did these as a custom card request. I loved the challenge and think they turned out good as well. I had some reservations about some subtle changes like making the ball the color of a softball, it looks a little weird on the card is all. It provides a bit of a strange background for the Gators logo as well.
Just to let it be known; custom card requests are always welcome. I have done a couple and have really enjoyed doing them. Often my biggest problem is deciding what to do with my custom cards. It also gets me out of ruts I feel. Sometimes I feel like all I do is the same Royals or St. Joe Mustangs stuff so this is nice to break the monotony.

Bold predictions as I get ready to leave for the Mustangs game: Player of the game will be TJ Daily.
St. Joe Mustangs Brent Seifert 1983 Topps custom card Leave a comment
I saw the picture of Brent on the Mustangs facebook page for the mugshot and paired it with my shot of him trotting around the bases after drilling a 3-run shot over the party deck last week. I am a huge fan of both Seifert and 1983 Topps cards so I really wanted to do this one.
History of Joakim Soria: 1984 Topps 5 comments
It has been way too long since my last “History of Joakim Soria” post. I have a lot more years ready to go I just get distracted with my other projects and don’t get them posted enough. This post is dedicated to 1984 Topps. Definitely one of Topps classic designs but I am not a huge fan of it. I actually consider it the retarded cousin of 1983 Topps. 1983 Topps had a smooth, curvy design with the nice inset picture and Topps tried to go back to the same design template and just square things up. It ends up being too rigid in my opinion. I also do not like the font for the team name or the pink background behind the mugshot. I’ve picked on it enough, it is still a classic Topps design no matter my opinion. I like the picture here and how it fits on the card, I’ve often said how much I like pictures that are a little unusual and this one fits the bill. Look for another “History of Joakim Soria” installment soon.
2011 Mustangs: Mark Robinette Leave a comment
Mark Robinette has been a very good addition for the Mustangs this season. Last night he had a huge game winning pinch-hit 2-run single against Clarinda. He is batting .318 overall. He doesn’t play every day because of Brent Seifert at third base. Oh yeah, he pitches too. So far Robinette has yet to give up a run in 11 1/3 innings pitched this year and is allowing less than one base-runner per inning on the mound.
2010 Mustangs: Brock Simon, Chris Sunvold and Greg Noble Leave a comment

This is a St. Joe Mustangs set I made last year that has never seen the light of day. I did three players that are no longer with the team in honor of the Mustangs scheduled off day. Tomorrow the 2011 Mustangs kick off a huge home stand of 11 games in 12 days at home. I see a lot of baseball in my near future.
